
The Boxing Federation of India entered a bright new phase in September 2016 when Mr Ajay Singh became its new President. Since, its inception BFI has hosted six national tournaments, attracting over 300 boxers in each of these championships. It has organised the AIBA 1-star certification course for Referee and Judges, AIBA 1 star and 2 star certification courses for coaches, conducted AIBA Cutman course besides many organising other courses and seminars to promote and develop the entire boxing ecosystem in the country. BFI, in association with AIBA and SAI, is also setting up a world-class boxing academy at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. It also plans to start 8 satellite academies across the country. BFI this year is organising for the first time the AIBA Youth Women’s World Championship in November, 2017. AIBA has awarded the BFI rights to host the prestigious AIBA Women’s World Championship in 2018 and the AIBA Men’s World Championship in 2021.
